Fairfield thrilled a huge Indian crowd and clinched a berth in Saturday’s Regional Finals by defeating Huber Heights Wayne, 51-42, Wednesday evening at Xavier University’s Cintas Center. It was a second win for the Indians over Wayne, whom they had also defeated 71-70 back in December.
Fairfield, 23-4, next faces state champion Centerville at 7 p.m. Saturday, again at the Cintas Center. The Elks, 27-0 and the holder of a 43-game win streak, are ranked 4th in the nation by MaxPreps. They defeated Fairmont, 44-42, Wednesday on a last-second shot in the other regional semifinal game at XU.
