No Place Like Home – Footballs first home game comes up just short of a win

No Place Like Home
A cool time on hot opening night
at Fairfield’s Alumni Stadium
True, due to excessive heat, game time may have been delayed an hour until 8 p.m., but the Fairfield faithful still had a great time last Friday as the Indians played Sycamore in its home opener of the 2023 season.
Though the Aves eventually won, 24-21, the night was still filled with excitement. The Red, White & Blue theme was dominant in the stadium and the crowd seemed thrilled to have football return once again, as the patriotic-clad Tribe and cheerleaders marched into the stadium. The heat also meant that the Fairfield Marching Band had to forego its uniforms, but even in khaki shorts and red pullovers, the award-winning band got to debut a great show and wind up the fans with the fight song.
