As another regular season rolled to a close for Fairfield’s women’s soccer team last week, nine young ladies from the Class of 2024 were honored on Senior Night.
Mackenzie Chance, Taylor Ziegler, Mya Love, Hanna Zinsmeister, Olivia Stroud, Kyra Posey, Caitlin Bradford, Kyra Mann, and Kate Rimer were celebrated before Thursday’s final home game against Lakota West. Stroud and junior Delaney Burdine scored Fairfield’s two goals in a hard-fought 4-2 loss.
Each senior and their families were introduced to the crowd as their bio was read and they walked across the field, then were presented with gifts by the underclassmen.
The Indians, coached by Steve Thomas, finished the regular season 7-9-1 overall. They were 5-4 and tied for fifth place in the Greater Miami Conference.
Stroud completed the GMC season in second place for overall points with 35, followed by teammate Posey in fifth with 25. Stroud was also second overall in goals with 14.
Defensively, goalkeeper Rimer finished in 5th place with 97 saves.
The team defeated Harrison, 2-1, in the first round of the playoffs Monday. The girls continue sectional play Thursday at West Clermont at 7 p.m.
