And then there was one.
In most years, the Fairfield boys basketball team has quite a few seniors. The 2023-24 squad, however, with a junior- and sophomore-heavy squad, featured just one team member from the Class of 2024 … Lucas Davids.
Davids used that solo status, though, to shine!
On Senior Night, in the final home game of the regular season, Davids scored 5 points and ripped down 9 savage rebounds, many of them at crucial moments over a larger opponent, leading his squad to a 55-51 overtime victory over Hamilton. He also blocked two shots.
Before the game, Davids was introduced to the crowd along with his parents and brother as his bio was read over the PA system. After the game, Davids received the honor of ringing the Victory Bell.
His favorite team memory: “Hitting the game-winner vs. Liberty in 8th grade.”
His advice for underclassmen: “Enjoy every day you have in high school sports while it lasts; there’s truly nothing like it.”
His plans for after high school: “I will be attending Lake Erie College to play baseball. I have yet to determine my major.”
