After years of frustration and losses, Fairfield’s football team has now beaten Colerain three consecutive seasons. That includes last Friday’s 33-13 away victory over the Cardinals, a solid GMC-opening win that brought the Indians back to a 1-1 record.
Quarterback Dominic Back led the Indians with two touch down strikes, including a 25-yarder to Derion Prophett and a 17-yarder to Brayden Miller. Back overall was 9/14 for 103 yards.
On the rushing side, Tyler George was 15 carries for 127 yards (an average of 8.5), including a 35-yard run for a TD. Steven Bryant ran 9 times for 46 yards.
Kicker Aiden McGuire punched through a 38-yard field goal.
The defense got in on the scoring, recording a safety, plus Evan Colegrove ripped the ball away from the Colerain QB and scored on a 1-yard fumble recovery.
Gabe Ross led the defense with 10 tackles (7 solo), followed by Eric Ruther with 8 (7). Recording 6 tackles apiece were Raymir Coney, Marcos Tiderman, Axsel Rogers and Joseph Traore.
Fairfield, coached by Jason Krause, next travels to Sycamore on Friday for a 7 p.m. game.
