The end of the regular season has come for the girls basketball team, so they honored their six seniors before defeating Hamilton on Feb. 5.
Each player was introduced along with their families as a bio about them was read that included their plans for the future, their favorite hoops memories and advice for their undergraduate teammates.
Alexis Hayes
Plans: Attending college to pursue a career in the medical field
Memory: Spending time bonding with teammates is my favorite memories, especially the Christmas party at Coach Woods’ house and the overnight camp at Transylvania was so fun
Advice: High school doesn’t last forever; make great memories while you can!
Emma Willis
Plans: Attend University of Cincinnati for criminal justice in hopes to be in the police force
Memory: The Transylvania trip junior year and the bus rides
Advice: Work hard on the court and in school and enjoy every moment
Danielle Marsh
Plans: Majoring in business at Miami or UC
Memory: Spending the weekend at Transylvania junior year
Advice: Cherish bonds with your teammates throughout your four years and play every game like it’s your last
Kayla McCoy
Plans: Attend Miami University’s Farmer School of Business
Memory: The team-building events with team outings
Advice: Be kind and a positive influence to your teammates
Brittany Leahr
Plans: Going to college to major in business economics
Memory: Going to Mt. Vernon junior year
Advice: To work hard and stay focused on goals
Maliah Jett
Plans: Graduate college and grad school to become a pediatric speech pathologist
Memory: When the power was out during practice and we played games the whole time
Advice: Enjoy all of it before it’s over
The Indians, coached by Jerome Nelson, are currently 5-17 overall and 3-13 in the GMC. They next play Sycamore in the first round of the playoffs at 6 p.m., Wed., Feb. 19, at Lakota East.
