They may be few, but they are mighty!
The Fairfield boys volleyball team has only three senior players and a team manager on the varsity squad in 2025, but they are a core part of the team and the success they have had this season.
On May 8, Senior Night was held, as Nissi Apong, Thomas Schneider and Xander Rodriguez led the squad on the court and Xerek Saylor took a turn at the microphone calling play-by-play over the PA system.
The four soon-to-graduate students and their plans for the future are:
Nissi Apong: Attending University of Cincinnati to study orthopedics
Thomas Schneider: Attending Ohio State University to study sports medicine and exercise science
Xander Rodriguez: Pursuing certification in welding
Xerek Saylor (team manager and “positivity guru”): Working in a church intern program
The Indians, coached by Kurt Etter, finished their regular season 8-12 overall and tied for fourth place in the Greater Miami Conference at 4-4.
They next play No. 1 seed St. Xavier Friday after defeating Oak Hills Wednesday in the first round of the playoffs.
